Your Bread Box is an Ottawa-based gourmet sourdough bread company that's dedicated to creating delicious and wholesome bread using locally sourced ingredients. We specialize in wholesale distribution to local restaurants, cafes, and retailers, as well as direct sales at farmers' markets and individual orders (subscription or one-time).

Our sourdough bread is never frozen and always made fresh using traditional methods which includes using a starter and going through a 72-hour fermentation period, which results in a unique and flavorful product that's rich in nutrients and easy to digest. We use only the best quality ingredients, carefully selected from local mills near Ottawa.

THE ROLE

The Baker’s Assistant will provide support to the Owner and Lead Baker at Your Bread Box’s New Micro Bakery Location in Carp. Duties include helping to mix, prep, divide and bake our Sourdough Loaves, Baguettes, Pretzels, etc., to align with the high standard of our Brand. As a gourmet product, our priority lies in maintaining and increasing the quality of our products.

 

Additional Duties Include helping maintain the baking area and keep it clean and organized adhering to health and safety standards, helping track inventory and replenishing items as needed, and experimenting/testing new menu items for sampling and re-sale. The assistant will be trained to be autonomous and thrive working independently.

 

THE IDEAL CANDIDATE

Loves bread and baking! Hard-working, creative, and innovative, with some baking experience/training. Has enough stamina to help support the Lead Baker with frequent Large Orders every week. Takes pride in their work, loves their community and has great customer service.

 

 THE ROLE REQUIREMENTS

  • Ability to work 3 days a week, weekends required. (Thursday – Friday - Saturday)
  • Home Grown Experience/Passion for Sourdough Bread Baking
  • Educational programs in culinary arts, pastries, or bread baking are considered a bonus!
  • To be on the feet for hours at a time with the ability to multitask on a daily basis
